On body armour, I have knee pads (661 but soft) and will get elbow too - may get / hire some of the C3PO type though for shin hits...

I rode in the Alps with Maxxis High Rollers and found them a very capable all rounder. They're a little draggy but offer ooodles of grip.

I also took a set of Maxxis Minion DH's but didn't feel the need for them. Now these things really do grip and offer awesome lean angles/cross slope bite. I've only ridden them a couple of times and any of ya's are welcome to

Dont know what sort of riding you lot are doing but we will be on the same tyres we use in Wales. Les and Sicknote will be on there stamdard 2.3 spec. I'll be on my 2.4 Snakeskin Nobby Nics, but I am thinking of putting downhill tubes in them. If the trails are that bad that I would be needing Minions I'll be walking at that point anyway!

Minions are good but a High Roller offers a better all round option (as they clear reasonably well) should things get a little wet.

What type of riding is it; is it all chair lifts or will there be climbing involved?

For Morzine (all chair lifts and DH tracks) I used the minion's dhf & DH tubes.

For Sospel which is uplifts with about 500mm climb per day. I used the Hans dampf, which is amazing in the dry but terrible in the mud.

AyUp durability.
After using them for just over 3 years (including bashing them into branches and dropping them on the floor)I have had my first breakage :-( Thankfully it is just the rubber band that I have split and I have several spare.

I've flown on easyjet with a bike. There is s specific weight catagory for bikes (32KG allowed) and the charge is around £15.00 each way. It's a very simple process and if the bike is well prepared in a bike bag the chances of damage are quite small. I can provide some really good instructions on how to prep the bike for a bike bag. Flying with bikes is easy, if you fly with Easyjet. Jet2 on the other hand is a PITA trying to make the weight restrictions.

ademoLee who is running the chalet lives 10 mins down the hill. I spoke to him this morning and he is happy to lend us his stand and tools for the week. There is also a bike shop 2 doors down. I didn't ask about a bike wash, maybe that is becuase I dont use them? :-) Will check, I know in Les Gets there were ones available in the town.

Thanks for all the research - like the sound of White Room. Hoping I would be up to the riding - keep thinking I may be too old, but then surprise myself :)
If flying there is the issue of getting the bike there safely, which I know some are dubious about, but must be possible.
