Chicksands

Earlier this week Brumster, Dozer & his clan had their first taste of knobbly action around Chicksands. Light faded pretty quickly but we managed a blue and red loop with a little explore around the north shore woodwork. Which is quite amazing...

Quite a nice, gentle night out for the Merlin Dual, it's first real test on anything other than flat & level footpaths near me. Bar some adjustments to the gear cables due to initial stretchage (perfectly normal and to be expected) it was good fun to give it a little workout. Light as a button compared to the Trek and boy, I could feel it, didn't feel anywhere near the usual physical exertion (even if Chicksands is pretty mild compared to anywhere else). It certainly doesn't mind the climbs, and the downs went by pretty quick too.

Still learning my way with it; it takes a lot of getting used to after the Trek, very light and responsive, very 'quick' in comparison (steering-wise).

Couple of punctures with the old tubeless tyres but nothing a load of gloop didn't fix. These bonties seem much more prone to the old thorns than my Hutchies, or am I just unlucky with this set, I wonder...
